Hi Neomi! Thanks so much for your comment. So glad you’re thinking about this and how to find new ways of being with yourself and the world. I recommend paying attention to your emotional state when you’re on facebook and other social media. If you’re in a space where you’ll compare and beat yourself up, do something else.

All the best!

I always find something. Anything. And then I compare how the other girls are always prettier, skinnier, their skin is clearer, their hair is longer, their cars are cleaner, they smile prettier, their lives on face ache (facebook) is far more glamorous, their bosses find their work far more superior. Their vacations are so much funn-er. It never stops. But it will. It’s too much. And it cant go on.

I do believe I will sit with myself, check in and get to know me. Everyone says I’m so utterly beautiful & delightful. I’m going to find out what they see that I cant.
I will stop comparing .. one step at a time. I will get a new pair of eyes to look at myself and see myself as if I was me …looking at someone else.. thinking ” wow! she’s magnificent.” And go from there.

I’m so glad to hear it, Michelle. I like your plan. I’d love to hear how it goes and what proves to be most helpful as you move forward.

It is a relief to get your article at this time, and it brings hope and anticipation of things to come that are oriented around what is in my own heart and soul rather than my perceptions of other’s experiences. For now, I will hold these thoughts and further consider how I compare (without judgment) , and maybe journal about what I want, listing some people and resources that will be supportive and sustaining.

Thank you.

Way to be liberal with deleting. I really admire that. It took takes me just as long to figure out that I can make that choice too, so you’re not alone in that!

These days I go through seasons when I don’t read any blogs, even the ones I really like, because of it.

I’ve been doing this a lot lately, particularly when it comes to the blogs I follow. I’ve recently deleted people from my RSS reader who always left me feeling like I wasn’t good enough (those who have skyrocketed to success while I’m still working hard to get traction) and those who were always telling me I needed to do more (how to get more subscribers, more followers, write more compelling content, more, more, more!).

In the end, I know the battle is playing out within me, but it’s amazing how long it took for me to realize that I was more in control than I thought. Recently I’ve felt a weight lifted, and what once was a daily frustration has now become a daily practice. Anytime I find myself down the rabbit hole of self-doubt, I gather up my courage and hit: DELETE!

Now to build a healthier circle 🙂
