It seems that as the days get shorter (colder and darker), my urge to do anything is in retreat. I also notice staring and my mind going blank, like I'm in a trance, creeping up on me. Am I slipping into a state of hibernation? My wife's driving is also showing this and has for the last three years (three near minor accidents the first year and twice in the second year, including clipping the wing mirror against a bus as we passed it). It is only this year that I've started to recognise the symptoms in me too. It's like Stan Lee's heroes, who are all mild mannered thinkers (Superman, Spiderman and The Hulk – the last one especially in the TV series, where you see him calming (cooling) down and slowing down as he returns to the thinking stage of his life as opposed to his action man stance of the summer; heat and good weather makes us all hot headed activists as winter causes us to withdraw from life and ruminate about the past year and all our actions, preparing for the thaw of better weather and new planned actions to take then).
